SUNY Canton vs. Fontbonne 3/9/15

March 9, 2015

7:00 am

After heading out from the hotel at 6:30 am, we arrived in Auburndale, Florida for an early 9 am game.

The Sun Hadn't Even Risen Yet By the Time We Took the Field

9:00 am

Robbie Osterer started as the pitcher for the Roos and quickly struck out the first batter.  He escaped a bases loaded jam by striking out the final batter of the inning on a powerful fastball.

He went on in the second inning to strike out the first batter on that same overwhelming pitch, and continued to strike out the side with an excellent mix of his pitches.  By the end of the third, Robbie had amassed a total of 7 strikeouts. It had turned into a pitchers' duel as the Griffins'  Cale Laughlin matched Robbie's 7 K's through 3.
In the 4th, Osterer struck another 2 batters out to keep the Roos in striking distance.
Jeremy Baez took advantage of a fastball in the bottom of the 4th and slapped it to right field, marking the Roos' first hit. He stole second base on the very next pitch.
Back on the mound, Robbie stayed strong through 5 and again struck out another 2 batters.  The two strikeouts came with a runner on third to help him escape unscathed.
Soon after, Derrick Machado collected a single to add to the Roos' hit column.
Juan Rosa came in for relief halfway through the sixth.
Jake St. Mary took over in the eighth to finish the game off.

After a tough loss, we made our way to SMOKIN' Jim's Smokehouse.
"It was like a Thanksgiving BBQ meal."
The guys bounced back well after the loss with the help of the BBQ.
The bright sun filled the clear afternoon skies as we enjoyed our meals.
Juicy pulled pork, a cabbage salad that was Robbie-Approved, ribs that were succulent and came right off the bone, baked beans, and Texas toast were a few of the items that came out, nonstop, to our tables. Keenan absolutely cruised through the banana pudding, which was delicious.

It's safe to say, EVERYONE enjoyed the meal.

Huge Shoutout to SMOKIN' Jim's
The rest of the day was taken for working out, swimming, dinner, and bonding time for the guys.

Please feel free to share, or tweet these blogs, and take the photos if you would like to.

STAY TUNED TOMORROW as SUNY Canton takes on Fitchburg State @ 3:30 in Winter Haven.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!
